What is billboard?
Billboards are the most popular kind of Outdoor Advertising medium prominently used in India and the World. Billboards are also known as Hoardings in India and many other parts of world like UK. Billboards are the huge boards with advertisements posted over a panel made of metal or wood. Though as of today this traditional nature of billboards has changed with time due to the introduction of Digital Hoardings and other creative experiments. But the thing that has remained unchanged is the strong hold of billboard advertisement in the outdoor advertising agency.
How Billboards are used?
Following the boom in Advertising agency, today hoardings are among the first things that you will encounter while on a walk to the nearest market or drive to the office. Also it’s not easy to attract the attentions of the passerby or make hurriedly moving fast drivers to divert their attention and have a look at an advertisement.
This herculean task is made easy by the selection of an appropriate site for installing Hoardings. Primarily a crossing, a busy road with slow traffic, railway gates, markets with huge footfall make for the ideal place for the placement of a hoarding site.
Technology like everything else has also revolutionized the Hoarding segment. As of lately, Digital hoardings are slowly becoming very popular among Indian advertisers. These hoardings primarily consist of a large LCD screen or a dynamic plasma screen over which the advertisements are placed. Generally a number of advertisers get the chance to advertise on a digital hoarding. The screen of the digital billboard is programmed to display a single advertiser for some fixed period of time and this cycle is repeated on hourly basis. This makes for a very economically viable option and is also more interesting for the viewers.
Adtek has unmatched ensemble of strategically placed hoardings in different categories throughout India. We offer you a wide variety of choices to select the most appropriate site for displaying your advertisement according to its requirement. Register on hoardingindia.co.in portal for to get the best billboard sites at very competitive prices.
What is unipole?
Unipole signs are basically an advertising sign which have a frame structure and are generally mounted atop a single steel pole or column. The single pole is preferably used as it proves out to be a common feasible solution that makes a billboard clearly visible alongside all the highways and roads without taking much space. Thus a Uni-pole is actually a large-format of a billboard type which is strategically placed atop a very high pole. It is made more effective by this height only as it makes it visible from a very long distance.
For the illumination of a Uni-pole advertisement any of the following two options can be used- Light box/back lit or front lit.
How Unipole advertisements are used?
In recent times uni-pole has become an effective tool for outdoor advertising. Unipole advertisements can sometimes consist of two or three large rectangular boards sitting on a single pole. They cater to the audience of the different directions. Usually all the sides are utilised by the same advertiser only. Uni-poles need to be delicately used and the effectiveness of the message depends on the presentation of it by the advertiser. Height of the uni-pole makes it compulsory for the advertisers to use clear and large fonts for to convey the messages. Unipoles are basically manufactured using high end raw material and are capable to be installed easily in any outdoor location.
What is gantry?
A gantry (a.k.a. sign holder or road sign holder or sign structure or road sign structure) is a traffic sign assembly in which signs are mounted on an overhead support, or railway signals supported. How Gantry Is Used?
Gantries are usually built on high-traffic roads or routes with several lanes, where signs posted on the side of the highway would be hard for drivers to see. Gantries may be cantilevered or one sided on the left, right and centre (sometimes referred to as a half-gantry or Butterfly gantry), or they may be bridges with poles on each side. Similar gantries are used in railway signalling on multi-track lines. Gantries form for a very good advertising options. They are hard to avoid and henceforth make for a good lure for customers.
Advertisers nowadays are enthusiastically making use of pole kiosks to reach to their audience while they are out of home, whether it be the roads, an exhibitions or a trade fair. It is getting popular as an outdoor media that supports consecutive display of message with unmatched affordability.
Advertisements of this type are continuously before the eyes of observers both vehicular and pedestrian. Pole Kiosks are placed in a sequential order of poles for the greater effect and repetitive advertising and which yields better results. How to advertise using Poll Kiosks?
Pole kiosk can be effectively used for advertising of local products and services. Economic feasibility and greater impacts make it the first choice of many advertisers.
One of the advantages is that such pole kiosks are automatically lit up by the lighting on the pole above them though advertisers today are also using back-lit panels for the greater visibility.
The turnaround time of pole kiosks is low, that is, they can be easily changed, renewed or updated in very short span of time. A long string of information can be conveyed through a pole kiosk by the use of a group of such advertising mediums in a linear order.
Compared to other Ooh mediums, Pole kiosks are very much small in size and hence forth it is important that right size of fonts is used in a poll kiosk to efficiently advertise the message. Pole kiosks on the consecutive poles should have consistency for a greater effect of campaign.
Bus shelters are a very ideal way of carrying out an Outdoor Advertising campaign. These are the spots where average travellers usually spends sufficient time, and also attracts good attention of passerby’s hence its dual advantage makes it a lucrative outdoor advertising option. Bus shelter advertisements are in high demand for promotional advertisements and also are profoundly used for conveying public service messages. How Are Bus Shelters Used For Advertisement?
The bus shelter advertisement generally includes back lit hoardings or glow boards. Bus shelter advertisements are an excellent medium for to fulfil local advertising needs. Though this kind of advertisement is very beneficial but is primarily limited to the Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities. Howsoever in such cities this is an extremely popular medium and cost effective medium of advertising with a very wide reach.
Prime advantage of the bus shelter advertisement is their location. Such sites selected for advertisement are widely located on high traffic roadways, around densely populated residential areas, in major markets with high footfall and so on. These remain thoroughly illuminated round the clock and offer a good publicity to the revered services and products. Henceforth these features make Bus Shelter Advertisement an excellent choice for outdoor advertising.
Bus shelters are an excellent medium for localized advertisements and also for concentrating the publicity campaign on a specific targeted group of people. It has efficient outreach and power to penetrate even in the areas where other mediums fail to reach. OOH has revolutionized the advertisement sector and for sure the contribution of Bus Shelter advertisement in this revolution is noteworthy.
Wall wrap advertising is a highly cost effective advertising and branding solution for the retail spaces, road walls, office buildings, family rooms or institutions.
Wall wraps make use of vinyl sheets which are specially manufactured to adhere to various surfaces such as concrete, drywall, glass, brick and block. Magic of a wall wrap transforms any wall in to a highly impactful marketing medium. How does a Wall Wrap Advertising Works?
Wall wraps are designed as per the requirement of the advertiser. In a very economical budget a very attractive wall grab can be designed. The size of wall wrap depends on the area where it has to be installed. Wall wraps are very easy to install and are appropriately durable.
If wall wrap advertising is brought to use at the very right place then the impact could be very generous. Wall wraps can turn any empty neglected space in to a lively medium of advertising.
Generally wall wraps used for advertising consist of very large graphics and only a compulsory amount of text. Wall wraps are very eye catching and surely an efficient medium of outdoor advertising.
You might have seen various walls in cities and villages painted with ads.Wall advertising is most economical and effective medium to convey messages in absence of proper outdoor hoarding installation and mostly used for longer durations.Painting house walls on side of national highways is most popular and widely used medium. How does the Wall Painting Advertising works?
Wall painting on walls of various buildings is one of our major promotional activities to reach the common people. This is done mainly on the main roads, inside towns, bus stops, circles, etc. where implementing it is very difficult because of the presence of others advertising mediums like - TV Channels, hoardings, etc. We have become successful in this medium and continuously undertake building wall painting, street wall painting, shop front painting, shop painting, etc. keeping our customers' interests in mind. Wall painting is a low cost media to reach the masses and lasts for minimum of one year.
Having begun operations way back in 1988, we have come a long way to become the largest printing destination across UP, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Haryana. With a print capability of 40,000 sq.ft. per day, we have the capacity to deliver orders of all sizes.
What is Solvent Printing?
Solvent printing does bake in the ink to the media that it's printed on for better duration of staying visible outdoors like someone else stated. Pigment (inkjet) can last about as long, but it's more used for keeping around indoor. Pictures that you carry around in your wallet are used on inkjet (aqueous) inks.
How does the Solvent Printing works?
Solvent ink's greatest application is in the printing of products that are to be used outdoors because of its ability to adhere to non-absorbent materials. Solvent ink also has the advantages of being fade proof, water proof and scratch resistant. These qualities enhance its usefulness in outdoor printing.
There are three parts to solvent ink: the carrier fluid, pigment and resin. Technically, solvent ink refers only to the oil-based carrier portion of the ink that keeps the other components in liquid form and once applied to a surface through jetting dissolves. Pigments used to produce color in solvent ink are applied in powder form to produce the best quality color and they are adhered to the printing materials by mean s of resin which both makes the color stick and protects it from damage.
What is Eco Solvent Printing?
Eco-solvent is a form of the non-water based ink that is made from ether extracts taken from refined mineral oil; the cognitive implication of the term "eco" which brings to mind the idea of an ecologically sound product is an inaccurate assumption when applied to this form of solvent ink because neither the material used in making it nor the creation process are ecologically conscious choices. Eco-solvents are also known as soft or mild ink; this form makes the creation of a reliable printer easier because of its slow dry time and the need for multiple heaters in the printer. How does the Eco Solvent Printing works?
Generally an eco solvent ink has little or no odour and doesn’t contain any harmful ingredients (such as cyclohexanone). The solvents within eco solvent inks are usually biodegrable and able to be broken down within the human body. However, just because an ink has no odour it does not automatically mean that it can be used in a normal indoor environment without extraction systems in place. You should always check the MSDS or with the manufacturer regarding ventilation requirements when using an eco solvent ink.
What is Inkjet Printing?
Inkjet printing is a type of computer printing that recreates a digital image by propelling droplets of ink onto paper, plastic, or other substrates. Inkjet printers are the most commonly used type of printer, and range from small inexpensive consumer models to expensive professional machines. How does the Inkjet Printing works?
The continuous inkjet (CIJ) method is used commercially for marking and coding of products and packages. In 1867 Lord Kelvin patented the syphon recorder, which recorded telegraph signals as a continuous trace on paper using an ink jet nozzle deflected by a magnetic coil. The first commercial devices (medical strip chart recorders) were introduced in 1951 by Siemens.
In CIJ technology, a high-pressure pump directs liquid ink from a reservoir through a gunbody and a microscopic nozzle, creating a continuous stream of ink droplets via the Plateau-Rayleigh instability. A piezoelectric crystal creates an acoustic wave as it vibrates within the gunbody and causes the stream of liquid to break into droplets at regular intervals: 64,000 to 165,000 droplets per second may be achieved. The ink droplets are subjected to an electrostatic field created by a charging electrode as they form; the field varies according to the degree of drop deflection desired. This results in a controlled, variable electrostatic charge on each droplet. Charged droplets are separated by one or more uncharged "guard droplets" to minimize electrostatic repulsion between neighbouring droplets.
The charged droplets pass through another electrostatic field and are directed (deflected) by electrostatic deflection plates to print on the receptor material (substrate), or allowed to continue on undeflected to a collection gutter for re-use. The more highly charged droplets are deflected to a greater degree. Only a small fraction of the droplets is used to print, the majority being recycled.
What is UV Printing and how it works?
UV stands for Ultra Violet. The inks in UV printing do not dry but are cured by intense blast of ultra violet light. Many times more powerful than sunlight, UV lamps move back and forth with every pass of the printer head instantaneously fixing the printed image. By removing solvents from the process, virtually all dangers for the operator are removed with the exception of accidental sunburn :).
As printing technology evolves UV printing is fast becoming the new industry standard. Because there are no solvents used this system produces no dangerous VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds), requires no ventilation, has a higher percentage of recyclable content, and cuts cost because of reduced drying time. Duggal has currently has 6 large format UV printers including the first of its kind in the US Durst 16 foot printer. To learn more about the eco-friendly aspects with UV printing check out this article.
Differences in quality for UV and solvent processes are also important to consider. Research and Development for new technology now revolves almost exclusively around UV printers. Older solvent machines have reached their technological pinnacle as the rearguard passes them by. UV technology offers sharper images, greater detail, wider color ranges, faster and safer printing. On every front UV technology is matching and in many accounts surpassing existing technology.
What is Latex Printing and how it works?
The major advantage of latex is that the prints are dry as soon as they come out of the printer with no need to set them aside for degassing. There’s no need to laminate the prints, which last three years outdoors unlaminated or up to five years if laminated. Nor is there any smell from latex inks, unlike solvent inks, which have a distinct odour that doesn't matter for outdoor signage but isn't suitable for some applications such as indoor retail units, particularly for food retailers.
Latex ink consists of 80% water and pigment. Latex does require quite a large drying unit to cure the ink to the media and help evacuate the water, but the ink comes out 100% dry. Solvent prints requires a period of 12 to 24 hours to take place so outgassing may occur. If you don’t do this step, and move directly to laminating, little bubbles will appear in the laminate, thus defacing the print.
What is offset Printing and how it works?
Offset printing is a commonly used printing technique where an inked image is transferred (or “offset”) from a plate to a rubber blanket, then to paper. The offset process is a lithographic process. Lithoghraphy is a process based on the repulsion of oil and water.
The full name of the offset printing process is offset lithography. Lithography is a printing process in which the image area and the non-image area co-exist on the same plane. That means the surface from which you print is completely flat. This is feasible because of a very useful chemical principle: ink is an oily substance, which means it repels water. If you can create a surface on which some parts contain a thin layer of water, those areas will repel ink. The image areas need be lipophilic (or oleophilic) – they accept ink – while the non-printing areas need to be hydrophilic – they are repellent to oil and receptive to water.
Offset refers to the fact that the image is not transferred from a lithographic printing plate to a sheet of paper. Instead the inked image is transferred (or offset) from the printing surface to a rubber blanket and then to the printing surface. The process can be used to print on paper, cardboard, plastic or other materials, but these have to have a flat surface.
What is Screen Printing and how it works?
Screen printing is a printing technique whereby a mesh is used to transfer ink onto a substrate, except in areas made impermeable to the ink by a blocking stencil. A blade or squeegee is moved across the screen to fill the open mesh apertures with ink, and a reverse stroke then causes the screen to touch the substrate momentarily along a line of contact. This causes the ink to wet the substrate and be pulled out of the mesh apertures as the screen springs back after the blade has passed.
Screen printing is also a stencil method of print making in which a design is imposed on a screen of polyester or other fine mesh, with blank areas coated with an impermeable substance. Ink is forced into the mesh openings by the fill blade or squeegee and by wetting the substrate, transferred onto the printing surface during the squeegee stroke. As the screen rebounds away from the substrate the ink remains on the substrate. It is also known as silk-screen, screen, serigraphy, and serigraph printing. One color is printed at a time, so several screens can be used to produce a multicoloured image or design.
There are various terms used for what is essentially the same technique. Traditionally the process was called screen printing or silkscreen printing because silk was used in the process prior to the invention of polyester mesh. Currently, synthetic threads are commonly used in the screen printing process. The most popular mesh in general use is made of polyester. There are special-use mesh materials of nylon and stainless steel available to the screen printer. There are also different types of mesh size which will determine the outcome and look of the finished design on the material.

A marketing campaign isn't something that comes to you while you're taking a shower. Successful campaigns tend to be carefully researched, well-thought-out and focused on details and execution, rather than resting on a single, grand idea.
Planning a marketing campaign starts with understanding your position in the marketplace and ends with details such as the wording of an advertisement. You may also want to include decisions about uniforms, stationery, office decor and the like in your marketing plan.
Keep in mind that your plan is not supposed to be a prison. You have to leave room to make changes as you go along because no plan can perfectly capture reality. But you should also be able to commit fully to implementing your plan-or some future version of it-if you want to take a strong step toward growth.
